Beaches

Carbis Bay Beach

The nearest beach to the apartment.

You can reach this from the back garden without touching the road – but beware it is a steep decline and the return walk is not for the faint hearted.
There is a chargeable car park at the beach if you prefer but very expensive since the G7 summit. A 1.5km crescent of golden sand. Carbis Bay is a mile or so to the east of St Ives and a resort in its own right. Lifeguards patrol this beach during the summer and, with usually calm sea conditions and a sheltered aspect, Carbis Bay beach offers very safe bathing indeed. Ideal for windsurfing and water-skiing.

Godrevy View Apartment St Ives

Porthmeor Beach, St Ives

This is the large beach in St Ives close to The Tate. There is also an Island at the far end of the beach where you can walk up to the little chapel at the highest point and try to stand upright if it’s a windy day! The Island gives you a wonderful view of this stunning beach although you also get a great view if you take the road beside the Beach Car Park i.e. the opposite end to the Island, and walk out towards Zennor. The Porthmeor Beach Cafe has views over the beach and there is a surf school on the beach.

Porthminster Beach, St Ives

This beach is close to the St Ives Railway Station, which has steps leading down to the beach path. At times, when the tide is out, you can walk around from Porthminster to the St Ives Harbour Beach, another popular beach in St Ives. The Porthminster Beach Cafe is a popular restaurant.

St Ives Harbour Beach

This is the beach in the hub of the St Ives, surrounded by shops and restaurants. lots of boat trips are offered from this beach.

Porthkidney Beach, Lelant

For walkers, if the tide is out, you can literally walk from Carbis Bay Beach round the headland to get on to this beach. Carry on walking almost as far as you can go and there are some (very well hidden!) steep steps, on the right that take you over the golf course and up to the church at Lelant. Walk to the top of the road and you will arrive at one of our recommended pubs, The Badger. If the tide does not allow access via Carbis Bay Beach, you can also walk there via the coastal path which you can easily get on opposite the entrance to Carbis Bay Railway Station. If all else fails, simply turn right before The Badger Inn and follow the road to the church. Park up and follow the footpath beside the church – it will be worth it!

Godrevy, Hayle

Godrevy is a National Trust location, with a lovely coastal walk with a stunning view of Godrevy Lighthouse and, if you’re lucky, you might see the seals. There is also a beach and beach cafe. Free to park for National Trust Members or chargeable for non-members.

Gwithian, Hayle

This beautiful stretch of beach can be accessed by the Godrevy National Trust car park or there is a dedicated Gwithian chargeable car park with a beach cafe. Popular with dog walkers and surfers!
